Clouds, Jungle & Beach
Ten days from the volcanoes of the Central Valley to the quetzal cloud forests of San Gerardo de Dota, the Pacific beaches of Uvita and three nights deep inside Corcovado National Park.
Cross Costa Rica from its highest craters to its wildest jungle on this ten-day, nine-night journey. It begins in San José with a city tour of the Central Market, the Gold Museum and the Plaza de la Cultura, then heads into the Central Valley for the Doka Estate coffee farm, the active crater of the Poás Volcano and the five waterfalls of the La Paz wildlife refuge. Next comes the Irazú Volcano, Costa Rica's second highest mountain, followed by a traditional Costa Rican lunch and a soak in the hot springs of the Orosi Valley.
The route then climbs Cerro de la Muerte to the mountain village of San Gerardo de Dota, where you rise at daybreak to search for the Resplendent Quetzal and later hike forest trails to the San Gerardo waterfall. Descending toward the Pacific, you walk to the Nauyaca waterfalls and settle into Uvita on the southern coast, with a free afternoon by the sea.
The grand finale is Corcovado National Park. A boat from the Sierpe dock carries you to the Sirena Station, the park's wildlife observation station, for three nights with full board and local guide services in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. A local Sansa flight returns you to San José for a final night before your transfer to Juan Santamaría Airport.
